The Moore County Republican Women's Club held their February meeting at the Pinehurst Members Club beginning at 11:30 A.M. The featured speaker was Dr. Aaron Spence, Superintendent of Moore County Public Shools.
Attending were numerous elected officials and dignitaries from Moore County. Judge Wilkins thanked the Women's Club and others for the support he received in the past year's elections. Judge Wilkins is a respected and eminently qualified and respected conservative judge. It was wonderful to see him in attendance.
Superintendent Spence gave an informative presentation on the status and success of Moore County Public Schools. He defended public education and the statistics pertaining to measures of success while acknowledging that there are significant problems. He did a pretty good job unless one is an informed citizen who follows and rationally analyzes what is going on in public education. If you are informed and rationally aware of what is afoot in public education, many questions and objections will occur to you that were not addressed in Dr. Spence's presentation nor raised in the Q&A period.
