New Role and Changed Priorities

Picture

For those who visit this site regularly (thank you!), you have, once again, noticed a slowdown in postings and updates.  Many of our local pols have noticed and commented on my absence from filming as many local board and council meetings.

There is a reason...  And it is NOT that I am less involved or committed personally to our cause.

In addition to wearing my Precinct Chair "hat", I also proudly wear the "hat" of membership in our Moore County Tea Party organization, Moore Tea Citizens.  And Moore Tea Citizens recently elected new officers and made some needed changes in the structure of the Moore Tea Citizens Board.

I was honored to be selected as the new Chair for Moore Tea Citizens.  Besides being honored to help lead this wonderful organization, I learned first-hand that it is a very demanding and time consuming position.  I am amazed how much our former Chair, Dee Park, could accomplish.  I will continue to update and post on this site as often as I can, but my two roles really do demand nearly all my waking time.

If you haven't joined Moore Tea Citizens, yet, I invite you to visit our website and to join using the online form you will find there.  Be strong, stand firm, and let's make a real difference together!

The Empowered Man

There is something simmering deep inside the soul of all Americans.  We want to know that we are a free people; that the government acknowledges our individual rights; that fiscal responsibility is an absolute requirement.  We want our presidents and politicians to mean what they say when they take the oath of office..."to defend the Constitution of the United States!"

●  Do we have freedom when half the country pays taxes to support the other
    half?
●  Do we have freedom when government regulates every aspect of our lives?
●  Do we have freedom when our currency is controlled by a corporation that
has no accountability to the American people?
●  Do we have freedom when we have more debt than can possibly be repaid?

The government bureaucracy is to a point where it is no longer worth what the tax payer is required to maintain it.  I wonder how many Americans realize they have sold our God given freedoms for a mess of pottage.

I hope everyone will see themselves as the Empowered Man. It makes no difference whether you are a man or woman, how old you are, or the color of your skin.  You must decide to no longer be silent, to get off your bench, pick up that Constitution and hold it high in the air as a standard for the world to see.  Don't hold back!  Don't be silent!  You are the future of this nation and without YOU, the American dream will perish.

Hello Neighbor and Fellow Voter!

Picture

Welcome to your West Knollwood Precinct web site!  Allow me to introduce myself.  I am Bill Cochrane, your current Precinct Chairman.  I want to thank my predecessor, Paul Brodict, for his six years of service as our Precinct Chair.  I live in the Longleaf Subdivision of Southern Pines.  We have a lot to do as we get ready for the upcoming 2012 elections!

I want this site to be useful and interesting to our Precinct members.  Whether you came here via the Moore County GOP web site, my emails or phone calls, or a search engine, you are most welcome here.  Please leave a comment or send me an email to let me know what you want to see us do on this site as well as in our precinct meetings and activities.  I'll do whatever you request that is within my abilities to make this meaningful for you!

Let's work together to Take Back America!

Time is running out!

Alexander Hamilton on Natural Rights

Picture
"The fundamental source of all your errors, sophisms and false reasonings is a total ignorance of the natural rights of mankind. Were you once to become acquainted with these, you could never entertain a thought that all men are not, by nature, entitled to a parity of privileges. You would be convinced that natural liberty is a gift of the beneficent Creator to the whole human race, and that civil liberty is founded in that; and cannot be wrested from any people, without the most manifest violation of justice." — Alexander Hamilton, The Farmer Refuted, 1775

Sam Adams on Electing Virtuous Candidates

Picture
"He therefore is the truest friend to the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue, and who, so far as his power and influence extend, will not suffer a man to be chosen into any office of power and trust who is not a wise and virtuous man.

We must not conclude merely upon a man's haranguing upon liberty, and using the charming sound, that he is fit to be trusted with the liberties of his country. It is not unfrequent to hear men declaim loudly upon liberty, who, if we may judge by the whole tenor of their actions, mean nothing else by it but their own liberty, — to oppress without control or the restraint of laws all who are poorer or weaker than themselves.

It is not, I say, unfrequent to see such instances, though at the same time I esteem it a justice due to my country to say that it is not without shining examples of the contrary kind; — examples of men of a distinguished attachment to this same liberty I have been describing; whom no hopes could draw, no terrors could drive, from steadily pursuing, in their sphere, the true interests of their country; whose fidelity has been tried in the nicest and tenderest manner, and has been ever firm and unshaken.

The sum of all is, if we would most truly enjoy this gift of Heaven, let us become a virtuous people." — Samuel Adams, [Essay published in The Advertiser (1748)]

The Wisdom of Thomas Paine on the Constitution

Picture
"[I]t is the nature and intention of a constitution to prevent governing by party, by establishing a common principle that shall limit and control the power and impulse of each party, and that says to all parties, THUS FAR SHALT THOU GO, AND NO FARTHER. But in the absence of a constitution, men look entirely to party, and instead of principle governing party, party governs principle."  — Thomas  Paine

John Witherspoon speaks of the virtue of a People

Picture
"Nothing is more certain than that a general profligacy and corruption of manners make a people ripe for destruction.  A good form of government may hold the rotten materials together for some time, but beyond a certain pitch, even the best constitution will be ineffectual, and slavery must ensue." — John Witherspoon, The Dominion of Providence Over the Passions of Men, 1776

John Adams on Worship

Picture
"It is the duty of all men in society, publicly, and at stated seasons, to worship the SUPREME BEING, the great Creator and Preserver of the universe.  And no subject shall be hurt, molested, or restrained, in his person, liberty, or estate, for worshipping GOD in the manner most agreeable to the dictates of his own conscience; or for his religious profession or sentiments; provided he doth not disturb the public peace, or obstruct others in their religious worship."  – John Adams, Thoughts on Government, 1776
